It has become a homebuyers market. Not only will the government give you first time homebuyers some money, but also houses are fairly cheap right now. So if you have taken advantage of this situation, how do you make this move as easy and efficient as possible? We have a few tips to get you started.

Make a list of your moving process

Grab a pen and paper and start writing everything you need to do down. Everything from packing to changing your insurance policy should make this list. This list does not need to be in any order. Moving is a stressful time and you don’t want to forget something as dire as packing some butt paper in an easily accessible spot.

Start early

Start the moving process as early as you can. Consolidate anything you don’t want early. This will allow you to have any yard sales to help bring in a few bucks.

Start packing as early as you can. Anyone who has moved knows the trash bag packing that takes place on moving day. For the uninitiated, this is the process of throwing all that miscellaneous stuff into trash bags and tossing them onto the moving truck.

You will want to start the process of utility moving early as well. People get all in a tizzy when their cable is not on, or they cannot get on the Internet. Most importantly are the utilities and insurance. Calling each company will help in assuring that you have those important items at the ready when you are in your new castle of doom.

Hire friends

Moving will stain a husband and wife. To avoid this, all parties should have a friend come over and help. It works best if you offer up some food and drink as payment for their services. This will help in keeping the peace in the household. The last thing you want to do is explain to the homeowners insurance agent why there is a lamp imbedded in a wall.

Use your luggage

Your luggage’s is a great way to pack up items. This pertains to more than just clothing. You can pack valuables in your luggage for safe transportation. Packing empty luggage in the moving truck is just going to consume valuable space. So put those expensive purple flower print suitcases to work.

Unpack the toilet paper first

This has got to be the most important rule in all of moving. Sure, you want to make sure your insurance is taken care of to keep those valuables protected. Yet, you will get to the new house, and inevitably, someone is going to need to use the potty. This person is going to need some toilet paper. This person might even be you. Do everyone a favor and keep that butt paper handy.

Don’t forget to get that homeowners insurance switched over before the move. You want everything safe when it gets to that new castle of love. Make sure you take your time and the move will be a breeze. Just don’t forget the beer and pizza for your hired hands!
