Renters Insurance on Homes

When you rent a home, it’s just like renting an apartment. If something happens to the structure, it’s the responsibility of your landlord. However, all of your possessions plus your liability are not covered by your landlord’s policy.

  • What if the house burns down?
  • What if the home is burglarized?
  • What if a guest slips in the living room and hurts himself?

You’re responsible for your possessions and liability.

Possessions

Think about what you’ve accumulated over the years;

  • Clothing
  • Jewelry
  • Electronics
  • Computer and Printer

You may not think they’re worth much, but it would cost a lot to replace them. You may want to consider insuring them at 100% of their value.

Renter’s Insurance Coverage

Your policy will list all of the perils you’re insured against. They may include:

  • Fire or lightning
  • Smoke damage
  • Vandalism
  • Theft
  • Water damage
  • Other coverages such living expenses in case the home become uninhabitable, are available.

You will also have liability protection. This covers injury to another on the property. If necessary, your policy may even pay for an attorney.

Medical payments coverage will also be included. This pays for medical expenses for the people who don’t live with you but who get injured on your property.

Renters insurance is a very inexpensive way to maintain peace of mind about your possessions and liability.
